Here's an old CDRWL entry that I heard again last night. Ocean were like a lot of instrumental private jazz rock/fusion bands in America, putting together a high quality product to an audience of only a few. From Cincinnati, Ocean's primary solo instruments are the guitar and trumpet, with fine keyboard accompaniment. Excellent rhythm section as well. The 6 lengthy tracks allow the band to stretch, but not too much, keeping each composition in check and the soloists to a minimum. Special shout out goes to band leader Bruce Fox, who adds a deliciously psychedelic tone to his guitar. Certainly an anachronistic sound for 1982! File alongside other like-minded groups from America such as Genre, 3PM, Bellvista, and Gold. Easy recommendation here for private j/r/f fans.
Ownership: LP: 1982 Ocean Sound Recordings. Single sleeve that features a beautiful watercolor painting. Online acquisition (2014).
Seems they were going for that ECM look, and came up with something more underground and cool.
The photos you see are this copy as we (PPR) added them to Discogs today (12/23/21).
