Herbie Mann & The Bill Evans Trio - Nirvana. 1964 USA

Nirvana was originally released in 1964 (and recorded in 1961/62). There are 3 tracks on each side, and the first 2 of each are seriously M..E..L...l...l....o.....w. What a great late night listen. Highly recommended for people who can get high strung - like me. The final piece is a Herbie Mann original 'Cashmere', which is more upbeat but still a fine composition. The only "standard" is Cole Porter's 'I Love You' which is just OK. Fine album for those who enjoy soft flute and piano. Makes you want to sit in some dimly lit place, near the piano, softly speaking with a sultry long haired vixen smoking a long stemmed cigarette...

Ownership: LP: 1984 Atlantic Jazzlore. Single sleeve. In late February, Mrs. UMR and I were in a small town in Arizona on our way back from Prescott Valley, and after lunch, we stopped at a thrift shop, and they actually had a couple of cool pieces (the other an unknown Classical effort). 25 cents each. That's how thrift stores are supposed to be! We have one here in town that now charges $7 and $8 for LPs. That's just BS, and costs more than our local record stores. And they're donated for crying out loud! What happened to charity?
