Franz K. - Sensemann. 1972 Germany

Frank K. is a band named for Franz Kafka, and no surprise, is a leftist politrock group. But with long stretches of Krautrock goodness. The megaphoned German language fits the mood perfectly, and the guitarist rips his way through both of these side-longers, while the rhythm section blazes along. I've enjoyed this album for a long time now, and it seems after all these years, to still be somewhat unknown.

Ownership: LP: 1972 Philips. Single sleeve with insert. Recent online acquisition. This is actually the second press, as it was released privately just shortly before this with a different cover (and quite rare at that). I think I prefer the bizarrely primitive original, but this makes a good door prize, and it's hardly cheap either. I first bought the Repertoire CD (1994) not long after release, here in Colorado Springs at a really cool store known as Life By Design. It was in an old lilac painted Victorian house just east of downtown, and they had all sorts of underground prog/psych/metal, etc... Only CDs, but they allowed you to check out the sounds before purchase. Unfortunately the Springs was (is) just too small of a market to maintain a shop such as this, and they only lasted about 3 years. The CD doesn't offer too much, but did have a short history. All the photos here are from my LP copy, and I added even more to Discogs, which only had an off center front cover and nothing else prior. The CD history is preserved below, also from my old copy which is now for sale.
