Jean-Philippe Goude - Drones. 1980 France

Drones is a real patchwork quilt of an album. There are multiple lineups and styles presented throughout both sides. This is a true solo album, where Goude pursues various musical interests. But there's no continuity, and many of the songs seem more like sketches of ideas rather than fully fledged compositions. I quite enjoyed the two Weidorje styled romps - 'Les Saturnales' and 'Dies Irae' - and would have wished for a whole of album such. Not to be. BTW, the title of the album is also a bit of a red herring, as those looking for drone music will not find any here.

Personal collection
CD: 1993 Musea
LP: 1980 Polydor

I think I'll sell my LP (on Polydor), but keep the CD for the short run, in case I change my mind.
