Hits Hot (1980)
Found this recently at a local vintage shop in their $2 bin. Saw it carried some value, and it had the look, so I'm grabbing it fast.
While listening to Hits Hit, I was reminded of another obscure band from the exact same year: The Franklin Street Arterial. While there is no guitar, it was the analog synthesizers that made me think of them, especially on the opening track. Wonderful melodic sax and flute as well. This is old school funky fusion, far removed from the slick gloss of smooth jazz. Keyboardist also throws into the mix some organ and Clavinet. It's a tad too friendly and crowd pleasing to be an underground classic. I'm afraid I'm going to have to let this title go, though it was very close to making the cut.
Since it fits the CDRWL model, I'm creating a separate post, rather than adding it to a journal entry.
Never been reissued in any format.
